Have you ever seen a Cosmatesque floor?
Between the 12th and the 13th century the Cosmati family in Rome started a wonderful tradition. They developed a unique and elegant design, creating colorful marble/granite floors like stone “carpets” or for other liturgical decorations, by using recycled precious marbles such as red porphyry or green serpentine from the ruins of ancient Roman buildings (materials that had already been exhausted in Roman times).
For centuries the practice of upcycling has been an essential routine because the materials were too expensive or unavailable.
Today upcycling and style are a matter of choice!
Stonethica combines an ethical idea of recovering marble scraps with the added value of sustainability, creating a timeless design.
